Primary School Relays

The Primary School Relays are an inter-school competition with teams of four children competing.

The Primary School Relays are open to all primary school in South East Queensland. Each school team consists of four boys or four girls, though occasionally some schools have entered a mixed team running in the boys category.

A school can enter more than one team in each category.

Each team member runs a lap of the park on the bitumen road (approx. 700m) and returns to the start line passing his or her baton to the next runner in the team. This continues until the fourth member of the team has completed the course. The winner is the first team to complete the course without incurring any penalties.

This is an extremely popular event with over 400 children participating.

The Primary School Relays starts at 10.00am sharp at the Start/Finish Line.

To register your school for the event, download an entry form or contact Judy Topper on (07) 5485 1313 before the end of term 2.

Medallions are awarded to each member of the teams placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the girls and boys categories, and the winning school receives prize money.

Following the race the schools may compete in the tug-o-war held in the centre of the park in front of the stage.
